Kenny Schachter (b. 1961, New York City) has traversed the global art scene with a dynamic and multifaceted approach, leaving distinct marks in London, Zurich, and Berlin. His career, distinguished by a blend of curatorial expertise and artistic exploration, critiques the art market’s complexities with incisive wit and profound insight.

Schachter’s work spans an array of media, including digital art, installations, and writings, through which he examines themes of commodification, the evolving role of the artist, and the intersections of art and technology. His critical stance is a hallmark of his practice, often revealing the intricate dance between art and its commercial sphere.

In a recent collaboration with Dinodo Studio for his exhibition at Nagel Draxler, Schachter brings his critical edge to the art of rug-making. The collection, featuring pieces humorously titled Kenny Can’t Paint, playfully engages with a comment from his gallerist, transforming it into a sculptural statement. Utilizing centuries-old rug-making techniques, these artworks not only critique the art world’s perceptions but also showcase Schachter’s unique ability to convert critique into creative exploration. The rugs stand as both a humorous self-reflection and a testament to Schachter's commitment to challenging and redefining contemporary art norms.
