After serving as the artist representative and Cultural Ambassador for the Kyrgyz National Pavilion at the 59th Biennale di Venezia, FarmanFarmaian presented an immersive, community-oriented textile-based work titled "GATES OF TURAN." This project marked the culmination of a year spent living nomadically alongside tribal Kyrgyz craftswomen in the Tien Shan Range. Building upon this experience, the Shyrdak Series represents a natural progression in collaboration with Kyrgyz tribal nomadic culture.
